Maiden attempt at Homemade Guacamole

Ever since the time I revived the spirit of losing weight and getting back to shape, I have been extensively reading on healthful eating. One particular item that has intrigued me is the avcocado which is a high fat fruit, but is of the healthy fat variety. My short stint in the USA has introduced me to Guacamole- a dip of Mexican origin made out of avocado, tomatoes, onions, lemon juice, powdered pepper, salt and cilantro. It is a delightful thing served with the taco chips as starters in Mexican restaurants and tastes absolutely awesome. I had however, given up hopes of finding avocados in Chennai... But I was pleasantly surprised and very happy to find that my local vegetable market stocks avocado- though they are better known here as butterfruit, and the bill reads "Avvokkadoo"...

And so, I bought the fruit and let it sit for a couple of days to ripen completely. Today being sunday, and a rainy day, I thought it was perfect to have good Guacamole with Lays Pudina style chips, and so it was my maiden attempt at Guacamole..
It is amazing to realise that Mexican style of cooking is very closely related to the Indian style- Burritos compare to Rotis, they eat lots of rice, and the combination of vegetables they use is similar to that in India, Taco Bell's Fiery Potato fiesta tastes similar to potato curry made in certain parts of Northern India, their Salsa is so similar to the Salad we eat at home.. The only difference I could make out was that they are liberal with sour cream, while we are not..
Anyway, my Guacamole is chilling in the refrigerator as we wait for the Potato chips to arrive from the shop.. thats the picture of my Guacamole... I intend to try a few DEsi ariations in this, and I will keep you posted on the first response of my hubby after he tastes my Guac!!!
