Try replacing the curry leaves in your Venn Pongal with this powder:
Curry leaves, washed, wiped dry- 2 handfuls
Pepper- 10 pods
Cumin seeds- 2 spoons
Salt- a couple of pinches
Dry roast all the above till the curry leaves lose their raw color. Grind to fine powder.
I made Venn Pongal for my little daughter with this powder this afternoon- my primary aim was to get the curry leaves into her system for the iron content it holds. She loved the Pongal.. Even most elders discard the curry leaves in the Venn pongal, losing the nutrition that it packs... So replace the leaves with this flavor-packed powder- just add a couple of spoonfuls to the seasoning when the oil/ghee heats up well and then add the rice-lentil mixture... It tastes really good!!!
