The vacant upper Storey

One more "I donno what I intended to write" kind of post.... well not exactly... i read a light - hearted article about the "Mottai Madi" in one of the daily newspapers... inevitably I was transported back to the mottai madi's we have enjoyed and the memories they have left behind....

To me the mottai madi spells "openness"," a feeking of being unfettered".. Summer evenings always found me on the terrace enjoying the sea breeze.. Back then as teenagers, I took it upon myself to pour buckets and buckets of water on the terrace floor to cool off the radiation heat so that the nights would be more bearable... Then, I always brought my friends to the terrace because we could talk unhindered and gossip to our heart's content.. and then I always studied for my exams on the terrace.. since there was hardly any distraction there, the most difficult lessons went in better when i studied on the terrace... and oh! my dad and myself would take the music player to the terrace and listen to Veenai Gayathri amid the cool breeze... what a treat that was.. and yes I used to walk on the terrace and practise Yoga half heartedly there...

These days the terrace is 3 floors away... out of sheer laziness, I refuse to climb up... and oh... the view is not as cheerful as that in my previous mottai madis- i find the view here more sedate and colorless.... but my love for the terrace remains undiminished.. someday... i will once again sip hot coffee and gossip with friends and gaze at the sky in wonderment..
